I am Yolanda Christophe, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow studying entrepreneurship at Syracuse University's Lender Center for Social Justice.

Yolanda Christophe, PhD

My research explores how individuals navigate the transition from employment to business ownership, the obstacles they face in between, and the strategies they develop to succeed. Research has often shown that entrepreneurial choices and decisions are shaped by institutions. In line with this, I examine the institutional and structural challenges that influence entrepreneurial opportunities and how entrepreneurs respond to these barriers. At the same time, my research examines how entrepreneurs, in turn, shape institutions by adapting to, working within, or pushing against existing systems.

I am driven by the desire to bridge the gap between theory and practice, using research to answer real-world questions and provide valuable insights for aspiring and established entrepreneurs. This Fall, I will be joining the McKenna Center at University of Notre Dame as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
